Long weekend FTW

I can't enjoy it with shopping due to unforeseen circumstances, but at least we can still have fun. Not too shabby overall.

This morning before leaving for work, DH tried to wake Mira up. He said she's got to get ready for school. Mira has problem with school these days so going to school is not something she looks forward to.

Because she's been counting the day to weekends since Monday (this happens too often now), I told her there's a holiday coming up at the end of the week. And we've been kinda counting the days for it since.

So when DH asked her to wake up to get ready for school, she rolled on to the other side, pulled her Barney over her head and said, 'NO! I don't want'. 'Wake up lah, go to school', the dad repeated. 'Cuti lah ayah'.

And continued to sleep. Lol.

Peet stop?

Can you spot which is my car? Presuming you know once one it is lah. Hahaha.

Ignore it, please ;)

Anyway, I did a fun (not) test last two weeks. Tried driving the work for the whole week 2 weeks ago and took the train for the whole week last week.

And the verdict?

I like driving in the morning to work. Traffic's not so bad (managable) and I can start my journey at half past eight. The coming home bit, not so much.

Traffic is madness in the evening. And when it rains? Haiyoooo... can cry one! It can take up to 2 hours to get home. Gilos.

As for taking the train -- I don't enjoy it as much in the morning because by hook or by crook, I have to reach the station by half past eight. Meaning, I have to leave home so much earlier -- takes between 15 - 20 minutes to reach station driving from home.

If not, I'll be late for work. So far, boss doesn't really care and pretty cool about it. But you'll never know how it is in the (near) future ;)

I will smile with glee taking the train home though, knowing I wouldn't be stuck in the traffic like the rest of them. Besides, getting the train from Ampang to Masjid Jamek isn't that bad or congested. And so far, from Masjid Jamek to Tasik Selatan is not so bad, too.

I can be home in an hour without much grief, which is cool.

For now, if I can help it I'll take the train to work. If I reckon I couldn't make it to the station on time, then I'll just drive straight to the office. I hope the latter wouldn't happen so often.

Oh, ada amusing story.

The car park has 2 attendants who manage and sorta arrange the cars like the photo above. The other day, Thursday I think, they saw me walking by the area from the train station. They called out to me from afar, asked where's my car and why I didn't park the car at their place that day.

So long can still recognize me ah? Lol.

Like car accidents, most hardware problems are due to driver error.

I have tutorials today, while we wait for my next class to start...

After all the whinging, I've decided to relook at my 'gadget wish list' (yes, I have one of those) to start working on a possible solution. It seems like an impossible feat to get all the hardwares within a short span of time (I want it naooooo!).

Heck, I've had the list since 2008. The price tag on it was humongous. Tu pasal sampai la ni tak upgrade lagi PC tu.

However, when one stop dreaming and put one's feet firmly on the ground to start thinking rationally instead (LOL!), it didn't look so bad afterall. I mean, do I need to have a 30" ultrasharp HDMI LCD monitor? Of course not. It's nice to have, but it isn't essential.

I'll just get an 18" LCD or something. One that costs not more than RM350. I think that's workable. It is still better than my 17" CRT yang a la nyawa-nyawa ikan je tu kan.

Also, I dunno where I got this idea that I need to have at least 3GHz processor to run Windows 7. 1GHz is enough, apparently. My current system runs on 1.6 / 1.8GHz, I can't remember now. I dreamt of getting the latest AMD Phenom II (tak nak kalah -- price tag? RM900+ uols).

Now, by sticking with current motherboard, the only thing that I need to upgrade is my RAM -- I only have 512MB. So I shall get a 2GB stick.

Still, I am not sure if it can run Sims 3, especially with Win 7. Possibly can, but I won't be able to play with high settings. It'd probably be more comfortable if I stick with XP. Hmmm... something to think about.

Oh, and I need to get a bigger HDD. I think I need to change it; the current one has koyak-ed, I'm sure of it. I doubt I need a terabyte worth, but 500GB will do.

See, I dreamt of building an ultimate gaming machine. The thing is, the only game I would play on it is The Sims. And your occassional Diner Dash or Farm Mania games. Hehe...

This weekend if I have the time, I shall open up the hood so-to-speak, to inspect what has happened (it refused to boot -- that was the problem).

Lets hope it's nothing major though -_-'

Shrek Forever After

I received two tickets to Shrek's premiere show on Wednesday night, and took Mira with me. Iyelah kan, nak bawak DH apakejadah. Lol. Even though it was on a school night, belasah!

I'm glad we went to see this because it was awesome. Mira loves it. She's loved all the other Shrek movies, and this was no exception.

The plot:

A bored and domesticated Shrek pacts with deal-maker Rumpelstiltskin to get back to feeling like a real ogre again, but when he's duped and sent to a twisted version of Far Far Away -- where Rumpelstiltskin is king, ogres are hunted, and he and Fiona have never met -- he sets out to restore his world and reclaim his true love.

And hilarious turn of event ensues. I especially love all scenes with alternate-universe-Puss in it. He's just too funny. As it is, he became very fat.

Fat kitty = love!

And cuddly. Hehe.

The movie has enough funnies and towards the end, it was really sad. I cried! Ok la, I teared up a bit.

But of course, it has it's happy ending :)

I think this movie close the series nicely. A very nice 'final chapter'. I recommend you, or you can take your kids too, to go watch it. Especially if you (and your kids) are fans of Shrek.

Sir, I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the doughnut!

I've been busy... with... reading Sims 3 Legacy blogs and watching Sims 3 house constructions on YouTube. Saja cari padah gitu.

Cannot stand the temptation anymore, I tried playing The Sims 2 on my desktop PC the other day, and guess what? Said machine kaputted on me! Sad.

I want a new PC badly. So I can play The Sims 3. Like. Badly :(

Although, getting my foot into that now wouldn't be ideal because the new semester has just begun. Tutorial this weekend. Been busy studying, too at home.

When I come out of this mood I shall blog about 2 things:

Yeah. That's the plan.

Movie Night: Iron Man 2

Wow. The start of my second week here in the new work place. Better jot this down before it's forgotten.

So, as you've read in my previous post, I've seen this movie TWICE. Tau la kan it's the second movie, perlu ke tengok dua kali jugak? Haha, asking self pulak... poyo :-p

If Sue and I hadn't plan to meet two Fridays ago (a la end of a cycle / a celebration of new beginnings dinner so-to-speak), I would have waited patiently to watch it with DH and Mira that Sunday.

Anyhow, the movie was awesome. We enjoyed it a lot. Because I've seen it before, the second time around I find the first half of the movie a bit of a drag. I like it when the fighting started, where all the action comes in ;)

I think Robert Downey Jr. made Tony Stark. He's all class and charm. I kinda missed Terrence Howard's Rhody, though. Can't click with Don Cheadle's. I just feel (after watching Iron Man 1 again a few times already sebab suddenly Mira kena demam Iron Man - FML) Terrence's chemistry with RDJ worked better.

DH *loves* Mickey Rourke as Whiplash / Ivan Vanko. He said, 'muka dia selamba je tapi evil.' And there was a scene where Iron Man appeared dead -- that was when Mira whispered 'oh my god!' worriedly. Hehe.

And because I've seen it first, I made them wait until the end credits completely rolled because there's a hidden short clip after that. When Sue and I watched it, there were only two other peeps who waited. This time, probably because word had gone out, a few Iron Man die hard nerds fan waited for it, too.

I never would have thought DH knows his comic superheroes, but right off the bat he knew who / what was the short clip about... THOR! --when I nonchalantly asked him Sue and I hadn't a clue and I google-d it as soon as I got home to shared it with Sue -_-'

All in all, this was another movie we shared a liking to and we had fun. So much that last weekend Mira said, 'Bibu, jom tengok movie'. Lol.

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

They didn't want it good, they wanted it Wednesday.

Remember how I said I wanna leave on the dot last week, on my last day of work? Well, that didn't happen! I officially finished work at seven. FML.

The replacement was late for the handover. And then, after I've finished with her, the Chairman summoned me over to his office. That was an hour before end of work day. He wanted to see me because earlier that day, my boss just told him of my leaving.

He wanted to know why I'm leaving, where I'm going, what I'll be doing... and if I am really sure about leaving. Lol. That was the second time that day I've been asked the same question. Some pleasant words was said, I am flattered by the kind words but I guess, it was too little, too late.

After that I went on to finish my task, log off and shut down my side of the office for the last time, and then headed to Pavilion for a movie date with Sue (who waited for me since, like, 5 pm) -- we went to watch Iron Man 2.

Oh, and I didn't managed to say goodbye to some people due to lack of time :( Kesian kan?

Saturday was spent doing nothing, except laundry. Took Mira to her ballet class on Sunday -- she's in Grade 1 now y'all. I saw them doing some exercises at the barre and was taught some pretty serious stuff by the instructor -- last week was all about postures. Still fun, though; just a bit more serious.

DH took us for a movie (Iron Man 2 again for me, lol!) that evening. This time we went to watch it at Berjaya Times Square. 'Twas fun :)

Came home that night, and couldn't sleep a wink! I was so afraid I couldn't wake up on time and thinking I'll forget that I should be going to the new office instead of the old one. Stress giler (dan sungguh drama). LOL!

I reported to work at the new place on Monday. They were pretty nice folks. The boss sent an email to introduced me to some people in the HQ and I received a very warm welcome note from one of the Group's C.

We had a welcome toast on Tuesday at the office, too.

My workstation in the new office. Minimalist concept, as apparent. Sempoi je. But check out my PC -- Windows 7 uols, jangan jeles. Hehe.

I drove to work today; for the past two days I took the trains (note the plural 'yo). Train rides was ok, a bit of a hassle to have to change to another line in between, but ok la it wasn't so bad. Today was different because I wanted to see how's the traffic like.

I thought I'd like to start driving to work again. But...

Driving into the city this morning was manageable. There's still traffic but it was moving albeit slowly. I reached office in 40 minutes plus/minus. However, going home time?

I'm traumatised y'all! Gila teruk jam, mak tak larat okeh. Hahaha.

Took an hour to reach home wtf. That suck. Even by train I can reach home within the same duration but the best part is that I'm not the one who had to drive the train :p

Anyway, I've decided to take the trains for now and see what happens in August/September when we get the confirmation reply from the school I enrolled Mira to go for next year (last minute decision, will blog about it if she gets in).

Other than that, life goes on as usual ^_^
